92 burb problems galore

I have a 92 1500 4wd suburban 5.7 350. Last week i was driving to work and was low on gas. It quit on the way to the station, but fired up and made it there. Put gas in and left, got a block down the road and it quit again. I towed it off the road and tried it again, it started for about 30 sec. and killed. I figured it sucked up something off the bottom of the tank and plugged the filter. Replaced the filter...started for 30 sec and quit. Wouldnt start again. Towed it up to my shop and figured the fuel pump was out. Replaced the pump and entire hanging unit. It started and ran for about 2-3 minutes and killed. Wouldnt start again. I figured it was vapor locked, so i bled the lines till gas only came out and tried again. Wouldnt start, so i sprayed ether into the throtle body and it started and ran fine. Shut it off and tried re-starting it and nothing. Now it wont even start with ether, so i figured i lost spark somewhere. I took the ign. module and coil in to get them tested, ran them through numerous tests and everything came back fine. Changed the cap, rotor and pickup coil. Still nothing. one other thing, when i turn the key to on, the fuel pump runs for 2-3 sec and shuts off by the relay(can hear it click), but if i try to crank it, the pump runs for about 1 min and then cuts out without the relay clicking. Any help would be greatly appreciated, this is really driving me nuts. Thanks alot

Welcome to AF. Do you have spark when cranking, what is the fuel pressure, pulse to the injectors? all basic diagnostics.

you must make the fuel pressure test proceedure..this has been posted many times here at the forum...
then dtc ....It is possible its a CPS..

many a vehicle owner has replaced the fuel pump and was disappointed...delphi is the correct pump manufacturer.

Re: 92 burb problems galore

92 would be a TBI and there is no CPS on the TBI. Fuel pressure specs are 9 - 13 PSI and there is no test port so you need a special tool. Like maxwedge said, you need to see if the injectors are getting a pulse. On the TBI, the signal that drives the injectors comes from the pickup coil converted to DC by the ignition module.

If you spray fuel into the TBI and it starts, the injectors are not firing.
