gtp vs 94-95 cobra

so i was almost home, got to the last stop sign before getting home,a nice red cobra(had hood and bumper atleast),with e/t streets and a nice loud exhaust passes by.i immediately got on my car to catch up,i pull beside him and he floors it from about 40,he jumps a car and then i start pulling HARD by 100 i had 5-6 cars on him.then we stopped and he says "thought you got me huh" i said yea i guess,he then floors it without any notice,i floor mine and he jumps about a car,i was spinning badly,i let off caught traction and by 40 i was side by side with him,by 80 i was 5-6 on him so i just let off.we stopped and talked he said it was a 5.0 cobra with exhaust, intake, tune but he bought it an hour ago (he says anyways) and doesnt know if theres any other mods.

so idk if it was a real cobra or a gt with the cobra bumper and hood.if it was a real cobra shouldnt i have had my ass handed to me?

anyways sorry for bad grammar and being so long, just wanted to share.

Re: gtp vs 94-95 cobra

Well first off how do you double post a thread? Second how the hell do you put the same distance on him by 80, the time you spun, as the time you didnt and got to 100?? That's just funny physics.

Re: gtp vs 94-95 cobra

those 5.0's aren't all that, my 3.5 puts out more wheel hp than that motor puts out at the crank. and light mods to a GTP free up a lot of power.

240 at the motor, about 190-200 to the wheels, which is only like 40 hp per liter.

Re: gtp vs 94-95 cobra

Oh no wonder you beat him. My car makes more at the wheels than the cobra does at the crank too! haha

Re: gtp vs 94-95 cobra

Ive only ran it when it was stock with catt-back and then I only hit a 14.8 @99.4 mph with a crappy 2.45 sixty foot. I probably only had like 215-220 whp then though. I should be at about 250-255whp right now and should be able to hit mid-13's, but I guess I'll find out next year since the track is closed.

nah, once they started with the 4.6L they stepped it up a notch to 305hp.
was the car a fox body mustang or was it the new-ish looking body style?

not without traction... good trap time though. Can't wait till the tracks open again, 4 more months.

Re: gtp vs 94-95 cobra

Ha that's why I said SHOULD be able tohit mid 13's...which means assuming i get traction...so more realistically a high 13, with a high trap haha

The first 4.6L mod motors in the SN95 (1996-2004) only made 260hp.

The basic Mustang 4.6L didn't break the 300hp barrier till 2005 with the SN195 body style.

Re: gtp vs 94-95 cobra

the only 90's mustang s to go above 300 were cobra's, the basic v8(5.0/4.6) hit at most 265. 5.0 had closer to 215 than 240hp. the 6cyl was somewhere near 150(o boy). then there's the mighty cobra r, that i think had 385hp, much more respectable for a pony/muscle car, but that was far from a standard v8 mustang.

true, but i was referring to the DOHC 4.6L in the cobra's, that made 305hp. the SOHC motor in the GT's were rated at 260.

yeah they had the 5.4L supercharged motor out of the Lightnings and were like $65,000, in '03 the cobra's started coming with the 390hp s/c'd motor standard for like $30,000 and they did away with the cobra R.
