thermostat location

I have to put a new thermostat in my daughters 2001 Eclipse.

Since I'm an old Chevy guy I'm not very familiar with the location of things on an Eclipse engine.

Is the thermostat at the engine end of the UPPER radiator hose like a Chevy or is it in some weird place like the LOWER radiator hose?

I just don't want to dive in without at least an idea of what to do.
Thanks for your help in advance.
By the way, its a 3.0 v6 GT.

Re: thermostat location

I just replaced the thermostat in my 2000 eclipse GT.. and like you guessed it is in a weird place.

Its within the housing that the lower radiator hose connects to. I had to move the air intake that I have installed as well as fool around with the majority of the the electronics that are located right on top of it. It was a pain, but once you get the three bolts/screws off its pretty straightforward. Mine as well as all others I suspect was stuck in the housing and we needed to pry it out, however the install all that you need to do is push it in. Pretty simple once you get past getting the enclosure open.
