99 Fuel Pump

I am working on a 99 escalade, the fuel pump went out and the guage quit working (stuck at 3/4 tank). Well I replaced the assembly and the vehicle will start and run fine now but the guage is still stuck on 3/4 tank. Now the fuel pump did have a different electrical connector and came with a new one. but the connectors are diffferent and the wire colors are different. New Plug (A-D) Orange/Black, Grey, Purple, Black. Old plug (A-D) Purple, Grey, Black, Black.

I connected the wires according to the associated letter, not color because the colors don't match. What do you think the problem could be with the guage? Do you think maybe I got the wiring wrong?
Any ideas. would be appreciated.

Joe

Re: 99 Fuel Pump

I assume you replaced the entire tank module, if so disconnect the connector at the tank and see what the gage does, post back.

Re: 99 Fuel Pump

I unplugged the connector at the pump and the guage didn't move so I guess the problem isn't with the pump or the connector

Re: 99 Fuel Pump

Correct, it should have gone to empty.
