01 Manual Trans Bearing Noise
I just purchased an 01 civic LX 5-speed non v-tech SOHC 1.7 133k miles.
It was diagnosed by a tranmission shop as needing an output bearing of some kind. It makes a buzzing sort of noise as you accelerate in first and second gears and generaly seems a bit loud (like a manual transmission would if you were driving continualy in reverse). I have driven in circles and inspected the cv boots and see no problem there. Question: Has anyone else heard of trouble with these tranmissions? Is there some weakness that is agravated by rough driving? Thanks, Dan |
