Truck stuck in 4wd

I have a 1997 ford f-150 4.6L supercab 4x4 lariat The truck is stuck in 4low Thanks to the new fallen snow I went out and put it in 4high and when I got home it would not shift out of 4wd, so stupid me put it in 4low to see if I could hear anything and I heard a click and then the 4low light came on and now it will not shift back to 4high I check all the fuses the were ok. I have the electronic shift on fly with the dial.........THANKS HELP!!!!

If the drivetrain on the 97 didn't change too much from the 93, (this I don't know) there will be a small electric drive motor with a quadrant gear assembly on the drivers side of the transfer case.

Remove this and have someone operate the 4wd switch and check for operation, check to make sure the shaft turns.
