Jeep Liberty

took battery out of liberty to replace, now it will start and run for approx. 10
seconds and cuts off. Could this be the security system that needs to be reset? If so does anyone know how to do this?

Re: Jeep Liberty

It does sound like the security system, but you shouldn't have to reset it just because you took the battery out.

Have you tried a different key?

Re: Jeep Liberty

I once got zapped by a static discharge when getting out of the seat while holding the remote ket in the same hand. The remote would not work again and the vehicle started once then died as you said. The security light lite on the dash lit when I put the key in. I had to remove the battery terminal for 10 - 15 seconds to reset the ECS to get everything to work again. You might try the same thing, being careful not to double arc the cable as you put it back on.
