99 Explorer Sport Vin Code E... Did own oil change and did not see any indication of leakage. Within 1000 miles the engine got hot, so I pulled over and let it cool. Got back to safe parking, left overnight and checked oil in the morning. There was antifreeze in the oil. Other than that, it ran great.
Can anyone give me suggestions as to what it could be other than a head gasket? Thanks. Rick |

Re: Reason for sudden antifreeze leak into oil pan?
Welcome to the forum.
I'm not sure what you're looking for, but it could also be a cracked head or cracked block. -Rod |

Re: Reason for sudden antifreeze leak into oil pan?
Thanks for your comments. I am hoping it could be something else as there were no early warning signs of anything being amiss. Oh, well, that's the way things happen sometimes. Thought I'd try the forum, seems to be a lot of helpful information on here.

Re: Reason for sudden antifreeze leak into oil pan?
There is a chance that if you only drive short distances you just have condensate in the oil that is not getting burned off by a hot engine, but that would not explain the gauge getting hot. Is there a chance that the Engine Coolant Temp sender for the guage is faulty and the engine wasn't actually getting hot?

I'm not sure on this engine but intake gaskets cause a lot of problems especially on Chevy engines.
