JMB Performance Fenderwell Intake System

Hey guys, anyone use the JMB Perf FWI system from w-body store?

http://www.wbodystore.com/grandprix/...stem-p-63.html

I was thinking about getting one, but read that the "inner fender needs to be cut on w-body cars" and I would really rather not cut anything, especially the body.

I read the reviewes and some say "perfect fit, 5 out of 5" and others say things like "needed better instructions". One guy even said that his bumper "sticks out 1/4 of an inch".

I would like this FWI becuase if I get black, it will sort of look like its stock and belongs there, and plus since its a FWI, it wont suck in hot air from the engine compartment. But I'm torn on whether or not to take a chance at proper fitment or not.

What do you guys think? Anyone have pictures?

Thanks!

Re: JMB Performance Fenderwell Intake System

Never heard of the brand before. It is true you will have some installation issues with FWI intake systems. Mainly at the cone filter fitting properly like causing a bulge look at the inner fender plastic shield-liner and the big concern which is water intrusion. Unless you install a protective shield it will suck water/moisture big time which could lead to the infamous hydro-lock.

Good Point Bob. I'd rather not hydrolock my motor. Thing is I was looking at the stock airbox intake behind the headlight, and its rather small. Plus being restricted by the headlight and all the wiring.... It seems like it could be restrictive, I dont know.

Here is a better picture....

If only I could find an install tutorial, and someone who has it installed and been using it for quite some time.

Re: JMB Performance Fenderwell Intake System

The GM intake location is validated thru some furious water intrusion testing.

30mph into a 6" deep trough is like driving into a tidal wave....at least from the driver's seat.

Nice info to know but the issue is the aftermarket FWI presented. We all know how efficient the stock air box is and how well it protects from water intrusion.

Many of us with mods have either a CAI or FWI installed and as long as precautions are taken they work fine and that includes effective protection from water intrusion.

I went with the Thrasher CAI which still draws air in from the high pressure area but much better protected from water intrusion.

Tim, it was from 3800 Performance.com about 5 years ago. Technically just a CAI but it also has a nice PCM storage area.

Re: JMB Performance Fenderwell Intake System

I've heard alot of good things about the JMB. everyone that i ever asked said that it works awesome, and the install was much easier than expected.

personally I'm a little weary about cutting the fender also...but again everyone said its easier than expected.

i have the same thing as bob in my SE, also got it from 3800 performance...works great.
