replace fuel pump won't start
Hello! I have a Ford F150 1990. I park it one day overnight the next day won't start. A friend replace my fuel pump, still won't start. then we check the park to spark plug no spark, so we change the electronic module and coil and still won't start. we have a good spark at the spark plugs now. if we spray fuel stater. it run for a second and die again.. can any one help us please..thanks..

From what you describe it could be a fuel starvation problem. I'd go back and check all the electrical connections to the pump., then I'd replace the fuel filter. Most of all, though, I would check the fuse and relay to the pump. I believe the fuse is marked, fuel injector. If it isn't in the passenger area it will be in the engine bay. Should be close to the battery.

http://www.autopart.com/tools/toolsmain/tool/T_3440.htm This is a picture of a fuel pump tester. Check the vacuum hose for the pressure regulator on the fuel rail if it has fuel in it replace the regulator. Use an ohm meter and watch the voltage to the fuel pump switch as previously suggested.
Note a pressure tester is a tool you should have if you do many fuel pumps. |
