my 99 escort 2.0 viberates very hard when in gear and at a stop. when i put it in neutral the in cab viberation is less but still bad. any sudjestions..?????

Check your motor and transmission mounts.

Check for vacuum leaks (use a MityVac).

I had the same prob. on mine. I loosened the engine mounts, put a block under the pan with a floor jack, raised the engine about an inch then tightened the mounts back down again. This is called neutralizing engine mounts. Worked for me.

I like everyone else's ideas, but if you are also having performance issues, you may not be firing on all four. Loose plug wire, bad plug, not sure if you have cap and rotor or four lead coil.
