Modding questions....

Hey Guys, Me again, sorry for the stupid questions. Its my friends car. I dont know much about this car. He asked me to do a little research....

1994 Dodge stealth 3.0 V6 DOHC Twin Turbo AWD Manual

Just wondering if anyone knows the stock operating temp of this motor. I'm getting mixed numbers from multiple sources. I'm hearing 195 from some and 180 from others.

Reason I ask is because he wants to start doing some mods. He's got an aftermarket boost guage and says he pushes about 14psi of boost right now.

I dont know much about what all can be done, but I recommended to him to put a little colder stat and some colder plugs in before he starts increasing boost too far to keep knock retard within spec.

Right now he's running one range colder NGK Plat plugs. And would like to swap in a colder stat.

He says he's gonna buy a manual boost controller so he can turn up the boost. What supporting mods would he need to get up to the 20-25psi range? Or is he dreaming?

Thanks, sorry for the stupid questions......

Re: Modding questions....

Well he is going to need bigger turbos to run that much boost. And a larger fuel pump and larger injectors to keep up with fueling since the stock system is getting close to being maxed out on 14psi. Are you sure he doesnt a boost controller? Because the usually run like ~11psi stock...or maybe his gauge is off

Re: Modding questions....

typical warm idle temp is about 180. 195 is about the hottest i've ever seen mine get...that on a really hot day, after a long drive, idling in a parking lot with the AC blasting.

25psi, he may want to look into TD-05 turbos (with supporting mods, as torched said)

Re: Modding questions....

Running a colder thermostat has negative effects too. Stock thermostat is good enough.

As for running 14 psi.. I doubt it. Being he doesnt have a MBC he is ost likely running 12 psiish. Stock boost gauge is shit and isnt a real boost gauge.

As for colder plugs, you only want to go colder when you start upping the power a good bit. Running colder plugs now is doing more harm than good.

And for 20-25 psi as was said he needs much bigger turbos. bs are about maxxed at 15 psi.

550 injectors
255 fuel pump
fuel controller
and bigger turbos from 19t, to 15g or something similar will get him around 20-25 psi.

Your friend needs to do his own research and see what hes in for.

Thanks for the great info guys, I really appreciate it. He's thinking about getting some bigger turbo's because right now I think he's having problems with some oil consumption anyways.

BTW, he might have a manual boost controller installed already. He's got something aftermarket on the passenger side near the air intake area.

He also knows the stock boost guage is whack which is why he installed the aftermarket one. I assume he's not exagerating on the amount of boost he's pushing, but never know?....

stealthee, how much $$$$$$ are we looking at here for all these mods you listed above? Do high flow injectors require an modifications to the computer?

BTW, nice car, impressive mods!

Re: Modding questions....

can't really modify the ECU in these cars. you'll need an a/f controller

Re: Modding questions....

As stated you cant flash the ECU like in many other cars. At minimum a SAFC is needed to control larger injectors.

As for cost, off the top of my head

injectors are $300ish
SAFC $200ish
fuel pump $100

and turbos are of course the most expensive ranging anywhere from $700-$2000 (best guess) Just depends on where he looks.
