Turn signal issue?

been having this problem for awhile now with the front turn and side marker turn signals.
when driving during the day the lights blink fine but i occasionally get the dash indicator light blinking really fast but doesn't always happen and usually only for that turn of if i turn the truck off.
but driving at night with the headlights turned on the side marker and the front turn signal blink independently one would blink then go out then the other would blink and so on.
replaced the bulbs several times but only will work for a short time if at all then back to blinking independently
any thoughts would be greatly appreciated

I'm not the electronics guy, but it sounds like there's a short or issue in the headlight switch. I've heard of the multifunction switch going bad, and that may be the issue here.
