Hub and Bearing assembly
Hi while trying to replace the front drive side u-joint on my 98 grand 4.0 I6 we where taking off the hub and bearing but it was pretty well stuck on their when we did get it off it came apart exposing the bearings.
although they all remained in place and put back together i do get a noticeable whine when decelerating from high speed on the highway like off ramps and tolls, is this a problem? should i replace the assembly to be safe? |

Re: Hub and Bearing assembly
Yep, replace it completely. This happened to mine as well and I just put a new one back on in it's place. A buddy of mine was working on his and his came apart on him as well, he didn't have the money to replace his at the time his came apart so he added a bunch of grease on the ball bearings. So far he has had no problems. I say if you would have added extra grease it may not have had the whine.
