MY 99 ford escort just clicks when i try to start it and someone gave me a jump and it dies while i was backing out. What is wrong with it.

Usually that just means you have a low battery. If you were able to jump it and it would not run on its own then you should look into your alternator. If the alternator is not putting anything out that may be why you have a dead battery in the first place.

Also look for seriously bad connections at the battery terminals. Clean off any corrosion for instance, and re-connect the terminals to the posts - nice anc clean. When you go to start it, with the headlights on, they should not dim a great deal, even when the car is cranking.

Once jumped and started it shouldn't die again unless the battery is shorted out internally. I had just a thing happen to me. I was lucky enough to be in the parking lot of Wally World so got a new battery and all was well.
