power steering/ traction

hi everyone, to start out my mom has a 06 g6 with 25k i think maybe 30k. anyway, my brother and i both noticed that the power steering seems to over compensate after a turn. ex: if you make a left turn when you straighten the wheel it will pull to the right, and the opposite for a right turn. also on friday we had a pretty rough snow storm, and when i was driving her car on the highway at about 45 in maybe 2 inches of snow, following traffic and going straight, the traction light came on, the car started to slide, and made buzzing/ grinding sound that is associated with the ABS kicking in (i think...). anyway i pulled over and restarted the car thinking it was just a one time occurence, so i started driving again. at about 20 mph it started doing this again. i turned TC off and drove home like that, it was a little better. i was wondering if the steering and the traction problem were related, and either way what are their causes and solutions. thanks

Re: power steering/ traction

Probley was nothing to worry about, unless the lights stay on. Then you would want to get it scanned for trouble codes.

That is how the traction control stops the spinning/sliding wheels, and it also lowers engine rpms.

Re: power steering/ traction

The traction control was doing it's job. You were probably going a little to fast began to slide on the slick snow/ice therefore kicking it in. everything sounded normal to the way the car reacted sounds and all. Next time driving in the snow, if that little light comes on and you here that ABS sound just let off the gas and slow down and everything should be fine. Unless it stays on or the t/c off light comes on then I'd be concerned. The steering... If i recall correctly the g6 has electric power assist steering ( unless you have a GTP model then it has regular power steering). Again it sounds normal to be honest since the electric power assist steering tends to feel a little light and loose with some over compensation... but if anything have it checked.
