2001 Focus stutter/misfire

Hi,can anyone help.Our car is a 1.6 zetec manual UK car.
On a morning after starting,as you go down the road the car misfires & jumps on acceleration,at all speeds.Not serious but annoying.
Also after the car as warmed up and you are driving along it will splutter again when you are at low revs in third gear,e.g when you are going over speed bumps,or going round a corner.Not jumping because i should be in second gear!.
Last week it went into the local Ford garage ,which could,nt solve either problem!
The car has had new oil,filter,plugs,cambelt,speedo sensor etc.

Anyone got any idea,s? i have another baby due in a month and am a bit worried about the wife having car trouble on our local busy road!

You didn't mention ignition wires. It's had plugs now I think if it hasn't been already done it is time to replace the wires. Defective wires will show up when the car is in a higher gear and under a load or strain. Fuel and Air filters will cause this but in all gears. A vacuum leak will make it idle rough and could cause a low rpm problem in gear. Not familiar with the zetec 1.6. Does it have 16 valves and dual overhead camshafts?

I had a similar issue and it was the coil pack.
Upon remove I could see it was cracked about 2.5 inches and was arching.
It was a bluish and black where it was shorting.

Thanks guys for your reply.s .It was the coil pack that was the problem.The car is like new now.Why the garage could,nt do this a month ago is beyond me.
Also had to get a new key.The central locking was not working properly.It was clicking as you were driving along & the remote was,nt working.

Clutch pipe failed aswell,stranding the wife at work last week.Thank heavens for the RAC.
