1997 Nissan Maxima SE vs. 1995 Toyota Supra Non Turbo

OK, this kid in a NON Turbo supra wants to race me for cash. I know his car is 100% stock with over 140,000 miles on the engine and it has a stock 220 horsepower. My personal best time at the track is a 14.84 and I an consistently run 15.0 with an average launch. I just put in a short shifter so that might help me for 1/ 100th of a second LOL. Do I have a good chance?

this kid on my campus has a late 90's n/a supra. we ran quickly at light on the way home one day and i pulled on him. it's definitely worth a run. IF he wins, it won't be by much at all

A kid in a supra gunned at me in phillipsburg not too long ago. I would have gunned back, but I was in my girlfriends jetta 1.8T, though, with how slow he shot off the line I dont imagine it was a turbo.. I want to take my max and find him someday, give him a run for it..

According to wwwCarstats.com the 94 Supra non-turbo runs 0-60 in 6.9 and covers the 1/4 in 15.9. It might give you a good run if it is a 5speed though and if you don't spin out on your launch you should win but not by very much though.
Good luck.

What year Supra are u racing? Is it the Supra T-top version or hard top version? If he dosent have the heavy wing then he might win if he is a really good driver. Are u sure it is stock and he doesnt have any mods u dont know about because he can have a mod that u didnt see.

I WON THE RACE

OK, so the race went down today on a side road in my neighborhood. I clicked in my trip meter on my odometer and drove straight for a 1/4 mile (2.5/10) and put a trash can there so we knew where to stop. We raced a total of 3 runs, and the first one he jumped the gun we were neck and neck at the end. The second time I beat him by about 3 car lengths and he said we had to race again to see since he missed 3rd gear. The final run I thought my launch was crappy, but once I got to 6,000 rpms in 2nd I was pulling ahead of him and once I shifted into 3rd he was in my rear view mirror. Just to let you knwo he doesn't have a wing on the back and he does have an HKS exhaust and a S-AFC, so his car isn't totally stock.

yeah, the other day this prelude jumped on my ass and was riding about 4 inches off my bumper, he was so close i couldn't even see his headlights or grill over my spoiler, i threw it from 5th into third and hit almost 100 in no time, that kid was like 4-5 cars behind after, and he stopped riding my ass.

that's what sucks about having a modded car. everyone thinks you're gonna be driving everywhere as fast as you can, and when you dont't they get pissed. i wasn't trying to prove my car was faster(which it is) i just wanted him off my ass. it was either that or break-check him

Don't ever break check man... trust me

Some of these RICEY boys are rookies on the road they they driving ability sucks. They might overestimate their stopping power and slam into the back of you... oh wait... what am I saying? Then you get a free tail light conversion done by his insurance company, AND you get rich because of that neck injury you feel coming along. Discard what I said about never break checking. LOL

the thing about break checking is they're already so pissed at having to drive at your pace that if they did hit you they'd probably just get out and start swinging.
