I just bought a 93 mustang. When I push on the brake pedal it shudders violently. Not just the brake pedal but the whole front of the car. I pulled the wheels off, the pads, calipers and rotors appear fine when I spin the rotors they don't appear warped or anything. The ball joints, tie rods, everything looks great. Does anyone have any Idea what the problem could possibly be? The car drives great and rides smooth except under braking. I thought it could be a wheel so I rotated the tires, that did not help a bit. HELP!!!

You need rotors. It's impossible to tell by looking at them.

Re: 93 front brakes
Yea. Get the rotors. They're cheap. $40 a pair. The only other thing it might be is the brake caliper on one wheel is grabbing or sticking. Pads contaminated with brake fluid will shimmy and shake the front end.

Re: 93 front brakes
Thanks, that solved that problem But another problem, even worse has shown up. Somethings wrong with the suspension. when I push down on the left fender there is a little bit of travel, but when I push down on the right fender there is absolutely no travel what so ever. It rides like a buckboard especially on the right front. One friend tells me its the struts another the springs how can you tell which it is.

Re: 93 front brakes
Look under the right front over the wheel while you, or a friend, push down on the fender. You should see the strut compressing with your motion. Or if it sags on the right front, could be a broken spring or strut released.
Good luck.

Re: 93 front brakes
thanks I'll try that BY the way $40.00 each for rotors on a fox body at autozone. But its the whole hub assembly it's 1 piece. Plus bearings and seal. Just my luck.

Re: 93 front brakes
Well, see that's the difference between an Escort and a Mustang. Escorts have a rotor that is just held on with the wheel. What a waste of money having to buy several things when you only needed one thing.

Close to $50 at Advance. When you replace the rotors etc, snug the center bolt handtight then back off 1/4 turn. That should be good. Check to make sure that wasn't the problem all along, with the center bolt being too loose and the whole rotor shaking.
