Purchasing a 2000 Excursion

I need some pointers what to check for etc. Its a 2000 Limited with a V10 and seems in really good condition. I know that doesn't mean much but is there anything I should be looking for when checking out the vehicle.

Also what would be the aveage gas mileage I could expect on the highway at approx 55mph? I know its not going to be great but an idea would be helpfull.

Many thanks for any suggestions.

Re: Purchasing a 2000 Excursion

I just bought a 4x4 v10 excursion, I drove it for 150 miles in snow conditions with 4x4 on and at 50-60 mph and got 12.5. Not too bad. I have 150K on this and it seems to run fine, Did you get yours?? TIM

Re: Purchasing a 2000 Excursion

Thanks Tim, No not yet. Have check out quite a few and haven't quite found what I'm looking for condition wise... There are a few about a three hour drive that have low mileage and in great condition but haven't had the time to check them out yet. Within the next few weeks. Will let you know... Dave.
