Re: valve cover replacement

You can use a valve cover from any 1989-2001 G10/3 cylinder engine. You can even get a valve cover from a Turbo Firefly or Sprint with the embossed "TURBO" logo on it

Re: valve cover replacement

You probably should avoid the 89 - 91 plain, flat cover. It was redesigned to reduce oil getting sucked into the PCV system. The newer ones have a raised section on about two thirds of the cover with faint fins cast into it. In other words, it looks like the one you have.

Re: valve cover replacement

Oh crap, no, that's a whole different thing. You're limited to 95 - 97 with a four cylinder.

Re: valve cover replacement

ok this salvage dealer is saying that i have to call a dealership to make sure that his 96 valve cover will fit on my 97 and when i told him that a 95-97 should work he doubted that it would. so i tried calling some dealerships and they dont want to tell me, they put me on hold or try routing me to some other number, just getting the run around.

Re: valve cover replacement

I think on the 4 banger, you need to put a dab of silicone on the four corners of where the "hump" starts on the short sides.
