The 8th digit will be a '7' if it's a 350, an 'E' if it's a 305. L05 and L03, respectively. If it is a 7, your car is going to be a 9C1 (police package equipped) version as this engine was only offered with this package for this model year.

OK, just ran that VIN and it's a 305, not a 350.

On second sight, the VIN you provided was labeled 'invalid' and a different VIN was suggested that matched "1992 CHEVROLET/CAPRICE/5.0L V8 TBI OHV 16V". The difference? That 8th digit on yours, '8' was changed to 'E' meaning that '8' was invalid.

Re: motor

Thanks Silicon; that # 8 being invalid, would that be a label misprint or something, would you have any idea how or why that could be?Thanks again for your time and research.
