rub/vibration
i have a 96 2wd 4cyl 5 spd ranger that has a grinding similar to a brake rotor/pad metal to metal, noise stays with rpm of tires not motor. I put it up on the lift and ran in first gear at idle. center bearing feels like the culprit. but doesnt feel as bad as when being driven......AGREE ? or not
brakes wheel bearings u=joints all look and feel good

These are a problem area but I can be sure without listening to it. Put it on 4 jack stands with no tires touching have somebody rev it up somewhat and listen with a stethoscope.
You may need a press to change it or go to an automotive machine shop and get it done. I'm not sure on this vehicle. Some people beat them on but its not good for the bearing.

it was the center carrier bearing...wasnt to bad of a job other than the mental midget selling me the wrong part....advance auto does it again !!!!!
