ACR stands for American Club Racing. I think.
They are a little faster then the stock cars. Maybe by 20-30 Horsepower.

The powertrain is identical to the R/T. The ACR is lighter due to a lack of amentities compared to the R/T.

The ACR is pretty much the same as the Sport model, has the DOHC 150 HP motor, but has no luxury options. It is also my understanding that there is no speed governor in the computer. ACR's also come with adjustable dampening on the struts, I believe they are Koni's.

I believe your right on about the suspension. However, would you believe they did away with the DOHC and put a SOHC in with a higher-profile cam? Dodge says it puts out 150hp, but my old DOHC pulled harder than my new R/T!!! And that was with a atx!!!

I have a 98 Acr! They come with koni adjustable struts,Ajustable on the rebound.4 wheel disk brakes,Fog light holes in front without fog lights for cooling the brakes,a performance programed computer. The older model Acr's had no speed limiter,The final drive in them are higher than other neons. Most have a dohc 16 v 150 hp and about 133 ft lbs of torque. The performance computer calls for 93 octane. You can get an a/c but no rear defrost, and no power window's and such.

The Neon got better as it aged. Get the newest one you can. Most of what was said here is the truth, other than the statement that most ACRs were DOHCs. The ACR coupes are DOHCs and the sedans are SOHCs, period. Also, the foglight holes do nothing. They are not there to cool the brakes. And the ACRs don't have a PCM that is of higher performance than any other Neon, other than the speed limiter. The DOHC engine (regardless of model) requires high octane to make its full 150hp, that's all.

As far as the "best" Neon to buy, the ACR is my favorite. The newer, the better.
