2002 chevy express van heater fan problem
Yes I have a 2002 chevy express van. 5.7 engine/ air. The problem is that when the ignition is off the heater fan stays on and everyting is in the off position. My wife noticed the fan come on by itself one morning when she was going to work. I went out and messed w/ the fan switch and it finally went off. The next morning my battery was dead. So I presume it came back on and kept running until the battery was dead. I heard that it could be a blower control module or a heater resistor ? please advise someone I am out of work and can't afford dealer costs. Thanks Jack

Re: 2002 chevy express van heater fan problem
Could you determine what speed the fan was running at? (low, medium, high etc) If it was on "hi" speed, the blower motor relay is most likely the cause. When the speed switch is in the "Hi" position, the relay sends battery voltage directly to the blower motor. The circuit it uses to do that is hot at all times, (key on or off) and the contacts in the relay may have stuck. On your vehicle, the blower resistor and the relay are serviced a module, (one part). http://www.autozone.com/R,1263902/ve...ductDetail.htm
