My Dad has this problem with his 84 pickup (2wd). When he hits the brakes the left rear wheel locks up. I backed of the adjusting wheel all the way and it still doesn't make a difference.
The right rear brake works fine. The brake shoes and drums for both rear wheels are in decent shape and look similar. The brakes for the front and rear were bled twice. I don't know what could be causing this problem. Any help/advice is appreciated. Thank You.Regards, JOET/CAMRY |

If there is air still in the lines which ones would most likely have air in them since the left rear wheel is locking up? By checking the slides do you mean the slide pins for the front calipers? What do you mean by mic rotors? The master cylinder (mc) was rebuilt by me around 2 years ago and is in good shape. What do you mean by the ppv? ![]() Thanks for the help. ![]() JOET/CAMRY |

Re: 1984 Pickup... left rear wheel locks up when braking.
rebleed entire system ..ppv is the perportional valve ..
mic rotors is measure them to see if they are in tolerance.. a rebuilt mc is not a new one so check it .. sometimes the rod was not adjusted right or it could be leaking on the back seal.. u should also check the ebrake system .. some times tyhey rust up back by the rear wheels causing one side to tighten up and not let loose.. while the other side is loose..causing an adjust ment like problem...

As previously stated above I its part of the e-brake system linkage. I had the same prob on my 93 nissan pickup and it was the pivit piece that the ebrake cable attaches to on the lower side of the brake. Just some wd40 fixed it.
