Location of REM (Rear Electronic Module) on '98 LX Northwood
Greetings, after doing a SnapOn scan and code lookup on my '98 Windstar LX we discovered that the REM (Rear Electronic Module) needs to be replaced. One side parking light does not work. I already pulled the module, located behind the jack holding bracket on pass. side rear of van, easy enough.
A friend of mine has a '98 LX Northwood edition that he is donating to charity because the trans. & head gasket went (same time!) @188K. He told me I could take what I want! BUT the REM in this model is not where mine is.??? Anyone know where it might be? Thanks for your help. Mike(8lugnuts) |

Welcome to AFs! Check the production date of the donor 98. 1998 is a transistion year for the Windstar. My 98 was produced in Feb 08 and I believe it does not have a REM. Even the remote for the door locks from the earlier doesn't work with the "newer" 98's. Regards Dan

Re: Location of REM (Rear Electronic Module) on '98 LX Northwood
My bad! My Windstar is a '99! I just got it from my sister and she thought it was a '98. Title states it's a '99.
I dropped the module off at the local auto parts yard. BIG operation, everything computerized, neat inventory. The guy there is looking for one, says there are apparently several different versions of this module depending on how you van was optioned. I hope he finds the *right* one soon. Any idea how much a used one should cost? |
