Tool to remove lifters (valve lash)
Hi
Do anybody out there know where I can buy the tool to compress the valve springs in order to remove the lash (lifters)??? My car is ticking like a loud watch. I don't won't to used the screw driver method cause know me I miss and scratch something and then I am really screwed Thank you.....

most auto parts store have valve spring compressors, however I would not do it that way. Still to risky, in my opinion, though many people have successfully done it. I personally just think its kind of shady. I take the extra time and just pull the timing belt off, and take the cams out, then the lifters. It really does not take much longer, and its better to do it right. Might as well replace that timing belt and tensioner at the same time as well.

. But how do you line things back up? Or do you just mark things before you take them apart???

well its pretty strait forward how to line every thing back up the tricky part is just having enough hands to set the cams in time, i made some cam locks outta like a 3 inch bolt and 4 washers (2 on upper part of cam and 2 on lower side of cam) and just put a nut on the end of bolt and lightly tightend them up so the cams wouldnt slip. then the crank is easy to line up theres a mark on the block that u match up with the crank, there is a write on on stealth 316 very useful. then when u put the T-belt back on MAKE sure i repeat MAKE SURE the belt is tight all around and ull have to buy the tensinor tool or get creative, i just used vise grips and a heavy duty staple and bent it to fit the holes to tighter it up. and then when ur all done turn the motor over by hand about 6 or 7 times to make sure ur not hitting the valves with the pistons.
