help on nsx '02 idea
so im thinkingon making a full body update of a nsx to 02 specs, anybody got any suggestions for scratchbuilding the oddly shaped head-lamps? its kinda like the last years of the 3000gt lights, flat but domed for the projectors

I've been idlely looking into this myself, but more concerned with the JGTC car. I ordered the Kyosho Mini Z spare body for the Takata NSX which infact arrived yesterday. The headlamps look ok, but i've not had a proper chance to check them out to see if they can be swapped over, my Tamiya NSX hasn't arrived yet either! I'll post a pic or two later

Mini-z is more like 1/28 scale, isn't it? I thought about using it myself, but decided not to, and just make a master part myself.
What you can do is to use the headlight cover of Mini-z as a master for vacuum forming. Stacking three or four layers of plastic sheet should be enough to enlarge the cover to 1/24 scale. |

ray, I also read that in RC car action way back, apparently their official size is 1/28

The shapes of the lamps themselves are fairly simple: it's just two tubes cut at a sweeping angle.
The trickier scratchbuilding issue are the clear covers, and getting them the right shape that conforms to the contour but still has enough room underneath. I abandoned the Mini-Z route because I'd heard they were 1/28, too, but I like Hiro's idea of "overcasting" their lens covers to get them to the right size...
