Winter Tires and Rims
Anyone had any luck finding winter tires and rims? It seems very difficult to find rims for dakotas. Any suggestions? I have 18" rims now, but I think I can use 17". What size rim? (width)

Re: Winter Tires and Rims
I had the same issue you had with a different vehicle back a couple years ago. When the vehicles are still only a couple of years old, it is difficult to find some parts such as these. I ended up finding rims for my vehicle at www.car-part.com . On that site you enter your vehicle's info and select the part you are looking for. You then get a results page with salvage yards across the country that are part of the system that show the part in their inventory. You can even narrow the search further to salvage yards closer to your location to save on shipping costs, or to get them yourself. AS for the tires, I looked on tirerack.com as they have a good selection of winter tires and you can enter the size you are looking for in their search box to see what is available. I also found snow tires for my vehicle ( also 17") at my local Sam's Club and BJs Wholesale Club, ( if there is a Costco in your area they too may have some,I don't have any in my area so I'm not sure.) One thing about the wholesale clubs in general is that they order their winter tires in advance and get them in around Sept/Oct. They try to pre-order sizes that sell well and may have a limited supply of your particular size, so it helps to shop early at these places, because once they sell out of that size, chances are that's it for the year.(Unless there are multiple stores of the same chain in your area that they can call and locate some for you.) Hope this helps.
