thunder bird

i don't get into changing moters but a guy changed the moter for my niece. first of all they heard it run before buying moter.now it don't idle right the sterring wheel vibrates to.the guy changed timing a couple of times with no luck.anyone out there thats had this trouble? she needs this car for work and it has the 3800 piece of junk they have weak trannys to.

What year T-Bird.
This could be as simple a vacuum leak from a hose that didn't get connected or was broken during the install. It could also be bad timing, bad plugs, wires, etc.

Did the installed put new spark plugs, fuel filter, PCV valve and plug wires (if so equipped)?

Also be sure the plug wires are connected properly according to the firing order.
