EGR 401 code and old CAT

I was wondering if anyone had any EGR P0401 DTC coming up from an old cat. converter. I have had quite some problems with a '96 rodeo 3.2L that refuses to pass emissions. I replaced the EGR ,(looked to far gone to clean), replaced Bank 2 cat, and 2 O2 that were spitting codes. Alldata states that a bad cat can be a reason for the 401 code. I am getting the combination of P0401, P0420 (Bank 1 cat below effec.), and P0440(EVAP emmision control sys. malfun.) I am going to go ahead and replace the bank 1 cat and drive a couple hundred mile to see if the systems become ready for testing. Anyone with a similiar problem?
