1988 Century stuck in Park

I replaced the TPS on my dad's Century, 2.8 motor. Immediately afterwards, the car would not go either forward or reverse. It feels as though there is a wheel chok holding the car in place. What could have happened? I triple checked every connection. I also took a look at the throttle cable and related pulley. I don't get it. Has anybody experienced this?

While I was checking the car, I pulled the idle air control valve. It is very hard to push in or out. Is this normal?

Does the shifter move or is it stuck (like maybe you dropped a socket or something that has the shift linkage bound up)? Other than that, I see no way changing a TPS could cause this car to not shift out of park.

when you step on the brake you should hear a servo move in your steering column.

Likely you unhooked the wire to the brake stuff.

Or there is a neutral position sensor that is not right.

An 88 Century has no brake/shifter interlock. That's a safety feature not implemented until much later.
