Vacuum sender to Brake Canister

Forgive me if my terminology is not exactly correct.

I found a vacuum device in the back of my engine that provides vacuum to the brake canister. The vacuum device has a large hose (1/2" or 3/8") going to the canister and a small plastic connection on top. Evidently there once was a vacuum hose at the connection but it broke off allowing a huge vacuum leak that set off a P0171 code. Temporarily I capped the connection because I can't figure out where it is supposed to connect.

Question 1: Could someone tell me what this vacuum thingy is called. I have a shop manual, but sifting through hundreds of pages did not help me to identify this part. It is below the intake manifold in the back of the engine above the second right cylinder.

Question 2: Where is the vacuum hose that connects to the small port on the top supposed to go? Or, does it go anywhere? Since I've never seen this in its original form, it may be that it is supposed to be capped off, and its purpose for being is to provide a connection port for a vacuum gage and maybe it does not go anywhere.

thanks

Re: Vacuum sender to Brake Canister

It is not a device it is just a fitting that delivers vacuum from the intake to the check valve on the booster then powers up the booster itself. There should be no open vacuum ports if there is one cap it. There should be a vacuum routing diagram label under the hood or on the radiator support.
