Re: not 4runnin

Have you got a strong or weak spark? If it is not a really strong SNAP! when you test it, it may be the coil, resistance in spec or not.

Re: not 4runnin

the coil resistance is within spec and the wire from the battery to the coil reads 12v with the ignition on, but i cant get a spark from the end of the coil wire or at a spark plug

Re: not 4runnin

Check the resistance of the coil wire. Replace it if there is no continuity. If the coil wire is good, Replace the coil.

Re: not 4runnin

Dowload the ignition portion of the FSM here and troubleshoot as on page IG-18.

Download the fuel injection portion of the manual here. The IGT signal test in the Ignition troubleshooting portion makes reference to specifications in the EFI manual.

FSM for the 1995 4Runner can be downloaded in .rar format here.

I think the bottom line is - if everything is good, it's the ignitor.

Re: not 4runnin

i have a 93, and mine did the same thing, i finally broke down and took it to a shop, they said it was my mass air flow sensor! i do not understand it, but my 4runner runs a hell of a lot better. i hope it works for you, try a junk yard cause i priced a new maf sensor and they are around 3 bills. my shop got a used one and it worked great. off hand i dont know how to test the maf, mainly cause i didnt check it, and still dont understand why it makes the damn thing not run, i guess i chalk that one up to lessons learned, but good luck.
