97 f150 brake issue

In the morning when I first start the truck and leave the right rear brake locks up. Tried pulling on the e-cable behind the wheel, does'nt seem to help much. Eventully it will break free. Also If I was to leave by backing out rather than pulling straight foward it won't lock, only when first starting out and first moving in a foward direction. any ideas ??????????

Also I might add I do not apply the parking brake when parking the truck.

It could be several things. Binding wheel cylinder. binding or sticking parking brake or a loose backing plate. Automatic adjuster could be at fault. You need to tear into it and have a look-see.

I will tear it down again, had it apart a few weeks ago after just purchasing because rear brakes were grabbing on one side and found that the previous owner had the shoes reversed on the other side. thanks

you did put a dab of grease on the side of the shoes to let them slide back after being applied.yeah wheelcylinder could be pitted or seals worn and grabbing.

"had it apart a few weeks ago after just purchasing"

And now you have a new problem. Hmmm. Take them apart again, and this time put it back together right.

I'm not being insulting, but over the years of my experience, one thing has always held true. if you work on a system on your vehicle, then begin to have trouble with that system, it is almost invariably something you did.
