Buick door buttons trunk release problem

I have a Buick century 2001. Never had a problem before. Then one day the cigarette lighter stopped working. I found a coin in it and took it out. but it still did not work. After about a month, the trunk release button on my remote stopped working. Then, after half a month, even door open/close buttons on my remote stopped working. Now the door open/close buttons on my front doors stopped working. I have to open and close each door manually.

I just went to Firestone to check it. They said I would need to pay over 250 bucks just to get everything checked. That is too expensive.

Can someone give me suggestions on troubleshooting by myself? Or at least give me a clue on which one to focus on and get diagnosed first?

Thanks!

Re: Buick door buttons trunk release problem

Welcome to AF.

Start by checking fuses especially any to the body control module (BCM). The cigarette lighter has a fuse too so check that but it sounds unrelated to the remote keyless and door lock issue.

For the trunk release do you have the manual trunk release button in the glove box? If so try that.

Did you check the battery?
Just a thought.

Re: Buick door buttons trunk release problem

The remote controls are prone to failure but you need to double check the simple things like stated above.
