Those things are soooooo cute!
![]() ![]() ![]() Damn I didn't know the turbos off a 300zx were so small. You could probably use them but don't expect big results. Damn those are small. ![]() |

I have one of these turbos....can I use it on my application?? seems like the problem would be the inlet on the compressor and the outlet...it has flanges...how should I go about doing this???

Yes you can use them. Like George said it's really too small so don't expect good results. Also like you mentioned it might not be worth your trouble to modify your maifold or the turbo to make it fit. I'd say just try and find a decent used T25/T28 from a BB/GTi-R if you want a nice mild boost. That way you just slap it on the stock nissan SR20 turbo maifold.

Don't forget there is a difference in turbos between the 5-spd and autpmatic Z32s as well. The auto came with a .54 A/R housing and the 5-spd models came with a .63 A/R. So the turbos on the auto would spool sooner but also run out of breath sooner too. The turbos are only running on 1.5L of displacement too, where as on a SR20 it'd be 2.0L. that's a pretty substancial differnce for a turbo. I had thought about it too, as my dad has a 300zxtt, and we upgraded the turbos (well, the dealership did, HAHA) so there were two just sitting there (but they were also pretty much dead too). His new bll bearing turbos spool up SOOOO fast, it's sick! Hope this helps.
Oh yeah, pointless tidbit of info... The automatic 300zxtt can beat the 5-spd to 100mph. Even though it only has 280hp vs. 300 in the 5-spd. ![]()

IMHO,
It's a poor choice for a turbo if you thinking of installing it on your SR20DE... Do some research on www.se-r.net archives (right Geo????) and you will find all the information you need to make an educated turbo choice. Jon

They don't have a very good a/r or anything.... they are designed for the V6 that doesn't turn as many R's.. Hell, you would be better off with a stock BB turbo.

Here's the deal..... installing a poorly sized turbo is going to be very frustrating. Sizing is the key to reduced lag as well as decent power. Old school turbos were almost always poorly sized and that is what caused a lot of bad feelings about turbos. It was for me. Now I've finally seen the light, although a well built NA engine has a certain elegance, for lack of a better word.
