'99 Driver's Power Window Not working

The driver's side window stopped working. Did electrical tests and determined switch was good. Motor was clicking and seemed to be bound. Took the 12VDC motor off the gear case and found that it worked. Followed the excellent instructions found here (by searching) to remove the gear case. Lubed all the tracks, which seemed dry. Lubed the inside of gear case (no loose parts). Attached the motor to gear case and tested before re-installation. Everything turned freely. Re-installed motor and gear case and the window worked like a breeze. Hope it lasts.

Why didn't Ford just punch the access holes when they were knocking out the sheet metal in the first place? At least the dimples helped with location.

Thanks to all those that posted with this problem. Your efforts might have saved me $$!!!!

Re: '99 Driver's Power Window Not working

I have pictures posted that show the door panel removal and the motor/gear removal for the passenger side window.
I also lubed everything up....but still have to mess with that window from time to time.
I have a new motor and gear box installed, and am guessing the the old one was just fine.

I also have pictures posted that show the side slide rail for the rearmost side of the glass.
Mine fell off on both sides....so make sure that these are in place.
Easy to replace

The link in my signature takes you to the pictures.

Again, don't be suprised if you have to mess with that window again.....I grab the glass with 1 hand on the outside and the other hand on the inside and wiggle.
Seems mine acts up more in hot weather.

I really appreciate it Wiswind. If the window does act up again at least now I have had some practice!
