Ignition Coil Brands?

HI, new to this forum and it is great to be educated by everyones exp. with their LS. I will be having all my ignition coils changed on my 04/V6. Does anyone have a recomendation as far as manufactures and useable lifespan?
Also do gaskets/O rings need to be repl when the manifold is removed for this procedure, T.I.A ED

Re: Ignition Coil Brands?

I've used the Borg Warner ignition coils for my 2004 V8 LS, for a former Taurus SHO V8, and for a 2002 Nissan Maxima. For the SHO, when I took the coils out of the box, they had Motorcraft labels on them. Never had to replace one of the Borg Warner coils, but I don't know that I had more than 10k miles on any of them before getting rid of the cars.

While it's a good idea to replace the upper intake manifold gaskets when having the upper intake manifold off, if a close inspections does not indicate any knicks or brittleness, you wouldn't NEED to replace them with new.

While you have the coils out, you certainly should consider replacing the spark plugs with an OEM style plug as well as inspecting the coils for signs that oil is leaking into the plug wells. If there appears to be oil, then you really should replace the valve cover gaskets and spark plug well seals at that time.

Is there a reason you're replacing the coils, ie: are you looking for an issue or just for preventive maintenance?

Re: Ignition Coil Brands?

SHOROD Thanks for the very good info. I had plugs and THE #1+2 coil replaced 10 months ago, no oil issue so far. Im doing this for PM just dont trust them. 1 and 2 have been replaced at least 3 times now. I found Accel, Visteon and Wells on line ranging from 45(WELLS) to 80(Accel) any thoughts on these manufactures. T.I.A. A.C. ED
