99 alero maf sensor

my alero is difficult to start and once it starts it shuts off right away. i scanned a stored code it was p0171, system lean. i checked the maf sensor and got a reading of 4.5 volts on the out put. does this mean its bad? no vaccum leaks. any other sugestions? after a few trys it does stay running.

Try a fuel filter. If its running lean, your engine is not getting enough fuel. Thats what i would start with.
