Headlights and Cornor Lamps.

First does anyone know a place to buy clear cornor lamps for a 99 passport? I've found silverimageracing.com but the company doesn't seem to be very good and they have responded to my e-mails.

Secondly. I wanna replace my headlight assemblys with new ones. I saw the prices on ebay 50-90$ for new ones. And at the auto parts store the cheapest they have is 119$ each. Does anyone have any expierence with buying new headlights on eBay? Whats the quality and or yellowing like of the plastic?

Thanks.

Re: Headlights and Cornor Lamps.

I'm retrofiting my old headlights with HIDs. i'm having a company in Cali. make vacuum formed clear plexiglass headlights. In other words, they won't have the diffuser stripes on the internal part of the housing. If you're interested, I can keep you posted on the results in a few weeks or reply back and i'll give you some contact info for the company.

Re: Headlights and Cornor Lamps.

If your original lights are cloudy or yellowed you can fix them fairly easy. You'll still have the fluted lenses though. I just restored one of mine cuz it was yellow but the other one was new so it looked stupid.

Use some wet/dry sand paper and start sanding. Start with 1000 grit, then 1500, then 2000, then 2500. Use each grit enough so everything is even and the scratches from the previous grit are gone. Alternate directions with each grit to make it easier to see. This step should take 10-15 minutes. Use some Novus plastic polish #2 with a buffing wheel like THIS ONE on a drill to polish it out. Should take another 10-15 minutes. You will end up with clear, brand new looking lights.

I've done this, there clear but the yellow tint is still there. The plastic is likly yellow on the interior also. Not much you can do about that.
