65 drive train problem
I just had a rebuilt rear end put into my 65 327cc auto vette. Before, it would make a loud clapping or banging noise when driving (especially when doing slow or turning right or left and even in reverse) It seems like about every wheel cycle or two. Now that the new rear end is in place, I drove it about 20 miles and it started up again. I can feel it in the seat and it sounds like it may be coming from the rear area of the car. I have put 11K into it from front to rear. Still the same problem - any ideas?

Re: 65 drive train problem
James,
Is there a chance the noises showed up right after a fluid change? U-joints been replaced at all points in the axles and driveshaft? Just guessing, but if the answer to the first question is "yes", make certain the "posi-traction" additive was put in with the new gear oil. If the answer to the second question is "no", that's where I'd start looking. Jim |

Re: 65 drive train problem
Many local parts stores carry the additive. ATP is one brand. They have it at the store next door. $5 gets a bottle.
