Mazda 323 rims installation question

Hello all,

I got a Mazda 323 - 2003 and want to install 16 inch rims on it. There is nothing that can stop me from doing it apart from the engine which is 1300CC.
Now, what i am afraid will happen is that the car won't handle such rims because the rims are going to be quite heavy for the engine size... so what do you advice me to do? i really want to pimp it but this one got me confused.
