Check Engine Light?
I have a 1998 Dodge Caravan that the "check engine" light is on. The oil has been changed and all fluid levels checked and are OK. Can someone please advise as to what could be the problem why the light won't go out. Thanks.

Re: Check Engine Light?
The check engine light is to inform you that there is a problem with something the the computer monitors. It could be anything from a failed sensor to a sensor that sees something out of range. The computer will need to be scanned for a code(s). Once you know what the code is post it and we will be glad to help. Most auto parts stores will do this for free but please take there advice with a grain of salt. They are there to sell parts not properly diagnose vehicle problems. It has nothing to do with fluids oir when you changed your oil.

Autozone is on almost every coener-they can read the stored codes.Make sure you write them down, then post them here.Whatever the problem I'm sure it's been dealt with here before by many others!

Re: Check Engine Light?
On our 01, you can get the codes by turning the ignition on and off 3 times. Leave it on the third time and the codes flash in the display on the speedo. Not sure how far back they do that.
