my caprice is dead...... lovely

so a few days ago coming home from work, i felt an odd shutter in my engine. i didn't think any thing of it i thought it was just a little hick-up like my car gets some times (well it used to get) .i kept driving then a few miles some thing shot my eyes to my temp gauge, my beast was over heating. i pulled off of the road for about 15-20 mins. to let it cool. i know i should have checked my oil at that time, some thing told me to but i didn't listen, now i wish i would have. i started it up, put it in gear and went. i turned dowm my radio because i heard some thing odd. i heard a tapping sound. yet again didn't think any thing of it. i thought a lifter went flat or some thing. about 3 miles down the road i hear a very profound knocking coming from the engine now. keeping my fingers crossed and hoping that i can make it home, i hear a "pop", "ping", "snap" andhen a gut wrenching "crunch" and it died. my first toughts were that i bent a valve, sattered a piston, or threw a rod. i threw a rod straight through the block. turns out the car had a weak head gasket and the guy i bought it off of "conviently" forgot to tell me about it. i used my last $50 to get it towed and now it sits dead in the impound lot. i'm not going to bother with getting my cp player, amp or 12's out of it. i'm too disgusted with with the whole situation to even want to see the car again. i know it not the car's fault, the guy who sold it to me didn't tell me about the problem. still though if i see the car i'll prolly end up cramming all 18 feet of the car up the guy's ass ways.

i just need to relax i know but not having a set of wheels under me has really f****'d my world up and stressed me beyond belief

dude that totally sucks. so you arent even gunna retrieve your sound system? if i were you id get the car back and swap the engine out. i bet you could find a good deal on a nice 350 from a junk yard possibly. you know whats hilarious, i saw a video on youtube of a guy where the same thing happened to his engine and it was one of the rear pistons. if i can remember correctly he cut a chunk out of his engine and went from (in his case) a v6 to a v4. haha that would be a cool project.

Re: my caprice is dead...... lovely

That's a reak kick in the balls! I had my old caprice wagon blow a heater hose on friday, didn't notice untill I drove off the off ramp, then it cut out and steam flooded out the front (bad times) no temp gauge in the car (nice one GM)!!! My Dad came out with a screw driver and a can of water then I fixed it. Just hope I didn't cook the motor too much, oil smelt ok so think i'm luck atleast!

Shame you're miles away from me as I have a good low miles 305 sitting in the garage! Few hours and a bit of cash we'd have yours purring like a kitten again!

the heater hose at the water pump most likely....I have used tyrap girdles to support this hose over a 6in length , as it does get hot then the inner hose wall breaks..
