WIP: STR3 2008 F1 "Italian GP" winner

Hi everyone,

The kit just arrived I just couldn't wait to get started on this one. this will be my first MFH/E-JAN kit and I must say I am heavily impressed by the quality and how crisp the resin and white metal pieces are. the rims are stunning and the PE looks superb. plenty of Carbon Fiber decals will be used and will prolly need a new shipment from SMS before its all said and done

This is the very rare Italian GP kit that only 60 were produced worldwide, I wanted to build it up because Vettel is my new favorite F1 driver and this model will depict his Historic raceweekend when he became the youngest polesitter and race winner in F1 history.

ok, no more talk just the pics.

The Box

The Body

Tons of Metal pieces

additional Resin pieces

Photo-etch

SeatBelts

Macined Rims

The absolutely awesome Rain Tires

and last but not least, the Decal sheet (oh god I'm not looking forward to this I ordered 2 sheets just incase of a mistake but I also didn't realize you also get a full set of teh RBR decals also, so I could build 3 more kits now )

thanks for looking and wish me the best of luck

cheers,
Steve

This will be a thread to follow. Those rain tyres look sensational!
Did you get a set of decals in the kit as well or did they send you two sets in the decals you ordered? I think you got a bonus either way because I only got the 1 set of RB decals in my RB4.

Re: WIP: STR3 2008 F1 "Italian GP" winner

the decals were purchased seperately, I bought 2 because of the difficulty of the STR Red Bull, I didn't realize the RBR decals would come with it, so it was indeed a bonus

Re: WIP: STR3 2008 F1 "Italian GP" winner

only 60 kits were produced worldwide, and now since RB made all the stores stop selling them, its tough to get, I was able to get it through one guy who already soldout, they will be extremely difficult to find unfortunantly

I'd like to use the RBR paint that Zero Colors has, but I haven't used an airbrush in a while (nor am my skills up to it), but I have been told TS-53 is a very good color, its Deep Metallic Blue, I think, the Darkest Tamiya has.

Re: WIP: STR3 2008 F1 "Italian GP" winner

Hi

I can recommend the Zeropaint from Hiroboy. Even if the airbrush capabilities are limited it is within most peoples reach to remove the lid and pour some prethinned paint into the airbrush cup ;-) The paint goes on very smooth but should get a couple of layers to build up the colour. It is way easier to get a nice finish with that rather than to use a rattlecan IMHO

Re: WIP: STR3 2008 F1 "Italian GP" winner

The kit looks great. I have never built a MFH kit, but according to what I have seen so far I wouldn't mind building one.

I'll be watching this build. Good luck!!

And remember: Sebastian Vettel will be also the youngest F1 World Champion!!
