Red face windshield wipers won't turn off

It started about a week ago. Sometimes they would turn right off, then go a few more times then turn off. On intermitted (sp?) they might go up and down once, then 4 times before they quit, now they won't turn off at all. Any suggestions?

Re: windshield wipers won't turn off

What year is yours? GM had a long, famous run of wiper issues, most stemming from bad solder joints on the circuit board. There were even two recalls (at least) about this but unfortunately for me my VIN wasn't included even though my year range was (I have 1994 Sub). See http://www.avigex.ca/xport/wipersyndrome.pdf for a really good write-up of the fix.
If you buy new, this is about $50-$100 for the board or assembly or you can solder your own like I did, and I also installed a momentary "normal closed" switch from Radio Shack to interrupt current from getting to the wiper board, which shuts wipers off after I set the switch to OFF. I got pissed off that GM wanted to make money from me from their engineering mistake.

Re: windshield wipers won't turn off

They sell them on ebay for like 10 to 20 bucks.

For that price, buy the new one off Ebay, wouldn't waste the time trying to solder....looks like the aftermarket jumped in to make money from GM's problem...
