1996 grand cherokee stalled on road
My friends 1996 grand cherokee jeep is acting up. When she's driving along all of asudden the engine keeps running but the jeep wont go forward. If she keeps pressing on the gas, or tapping on the gas peddle it may start moving again but not always. this week it wouldnt go at all. Whats weird it she starts the jeep and drives down the road, but all of a sudden it starts doing this after about 20 minitues of continious driving.
If anyone has any suggestion, please help us figure this out. We would really appreciate. Gayle |

Re: 1996 grand cherokee stalled on road
Sounds like it could be the tranny. The clutches might be slipping after the fluid gets hot. Check the tranny fluid and see/smell if it is burnt. After the fluid gets hot it kinda thins out and if burnt is causing the tranny clutches to slip and is causing more heat in the tranny.
Good Luck |

My 97 did this when my fuel level was below 25%. It turned out to be a weak fuel pump. It was super erratic, you really couldent perdict when it would happen.
