2000 GLX 4Motion won't start

Purchased the above with engine not starting. Found Comfort Control Module full of water. Removed and replaced with NEW from VW dealer
matching all original equipment codes from VIN. Wiring harness was ok;cleaned up contacts including ground. Most all options seem
to work now but the engine will still not turn over. When ignition key is
in start position lights go off as if a dead short, come back on when key
is released to run. I have been unable to find out if new module has to
be re-programmed. I am located over 100 miles from a VW dealer and
don't want to have to trailer car there. V6 2.8 4Motion with 128K Very
clean car and appears to have had good service. Trunk lid is unlatched
and doesn't respond to key or unlatch button. Any help or suggestions
greatly appreciated. THANKS

sounds like to me that the battery is either dead or very low on charge. Try jumping the car and make sure the battery cables are tightened down good.
